ASHOKE ROY
About Me:
I was born in 1954 at north 24 Parganas of West Bengal. I had a dream to become a great artist from an early age. My paintings & sculptures are mere reflection of my emotions. Although many of my paintings have subjects related to Hindu mythology and religion, nature and human relationship specially romanticism finds a place in my work. My work is influenced by the Indian school of painting. Long time I had experimented with miniature paintings on my style by tempera proses. Now I like to work through the acrylic medium. On the other hand I am also fascinated by Dokra sculpture. I have spent a lot of time to learn traditional Dokra work from local artists in Dariapur of Burdwan district, a fact which has also influenced my work. I always try to carry the aesthetical values, which gives the real flavor to my work; I graduated from Durgapur Government College under Burdwan University. I also completed Bachelor of visual Art from Government College of Art & Craft, Kolkata. I was involved with teaching faculty at Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata as a lecturer on painting. At present I fully devote my career as a full-time artist at my studio.
