Inspired by the enormous Sukhothai statue of the seated Buddha known as Phra Achana, over 11 meters in width and approximately 15 meters high, in the centre of the Mondop in Wat Si Chum, Kamaldeep has presented to us a glimpse of this massive statue in her artwork done in charcoal. Capturing the enthralling Buddha statue from a certain angle, the artist gives the viewer an opportunity to visualize and feel the peaceful embrace illuminating from the delicately placed hands of the Buddha. The placing of hands brings a feeling of being content with one’s self. Kamaldeep has successfully resembled the statue’s structure and details in her artwork.
